12/5 - 2012

6th Budapest Transfer International Literature Festival

In 2012, the Petőfi Literature Museum organizes its international literature festival for the sixth time with the title „D*alternatív*A – words, lyrics, music, songs.
The festival started in 2006, since then there have been guests from more than 20 countries. The Festival has collaborated with various cultural institutes (last year’s official partners include the Czech Centre, Goethe Institute, Polish Institute, Slovak Institute, Cervantes Institute, French Institute, Austrian Cultural Forum, and Mexican Embassy to Budapest).
This year the festival investigates the European underground literary culture, more precisely they focus on those song writers, who originate their poetry in the very early form of literature, when poems and songs were still united.  The festival’s aim is to show how this ancient, traditional cultural feature could be assimilated in modern literature.

This year the festival has invited a Danish poet, Niels Lyngsø, who will participate at a round table discussion on 12 May with readings and some music.

Time: The 12th of May 2012

Venue: Petöfi Literary Museum (1053 Budapest Károlyi Mihály u. 16)
